Gallipoli Bazaar- Turkish/Lebanese Restaurant

I love my food and sadly for my bank account, I eat out a lot! So I will start posting my favourite places that I like to go to in London.

A couple weeks ago I went to Gallipoli Bazaar in Angel for my friends birthday and I had a really nice evening. The atmosphere had an Arabian feel to it and the setting is really intimate, ideal for dates or socialising with friends.

They had a really good deal on their party menu, which included a  3 course meal for just £17.50. For a starter I ordered Calamari which I was happy with. The main course was a little disappointing as I wasn't familiar with Lebanese food. I ordered the Harem which was a special preparation of chicken breast, laid on pitta, creamy yoghurt and secret recipe sauce finally dressed with melted butter. The portion was good, however it was like eating pasta sauce on it's own as I assumed the pitta would be on the side but instead it was soaked into the sauce.  My friend ordered the Bazaar special which was lamb and chicken on a skewer with rice and salad, which did look nice. For dessert the majority of the table ordered brownies with ice cream. It was nice but tasted more like chocolate cake, but I would also recommend the funky pie - A biscuit filled with vanilla ice cream and topped with a thick toffee sauce and chopped caramelised hazelnut and almonds.

The staff were really friendly and welcoming and as it was my friends birthday they offered us complimentary Sambuca shots and gave us hip wrap scarfs to do some belly dancing (apparently the birthday girl has to stand up and  do it) which entertained us.

Overall, I would rate this restaurant a 7/10 and I definitely go again. Good value, cosy setting and lively atmosphere.
