Tuesday Tip: Think before you drink

We should all be drinking lots of water everyday but we all probably drink less then what we actually need. Drinking water has so many health benefits. I was the worst when I was younger drinking fizzy drinks everyday not realising how bad it was for my body. Fizzy drinks and even some drinks that you consider as healthy like innocent contain so much sugar and that is what makes you put on weight. With summer approaching this is the best advice for anyone who wants to get slim and feel more energised. Water hydrates your skin and if you’re even just a little thirsty (or dehydrated) you run the risk of slowing your metabolism. The Department of Health recommends that we should drink about 1.2 litres of fluid every day. This works out to be about six 200ml or eight 150ml glasses. Make sure you drink water before you eat. If like me you find water boring add some fruit! Drinking lemon water in the morning is meant to be good as it aids digestion and hydrates your body. Green tea is also an excellent source of anti-oxidants and for those students who like to drink; green tea helps protect your liver from alcohol.
